"Artificial Selection" achievement not unlocking

Whenever I breed a horse and a donkey to get a mule, I do not get the achievement for doing so. Other achievements will unlock just fine, but this one in particular does not. I have not once started a world in Creative Mode, nor have I ever turned on cheats.
