Returning to World Spawn After Dying While Trying to Leave The Nether

While attempting to return from the Nether, a ghast blindsided me. After I clicked "respawn," I found myself partway underground in the overworld (I couldn't get a good look, but I think I was under my master bedroom). However, the game otherwise failed to respond, so I clicked "respawn" a few more times. Eventually, I did respawn, but I was at world spawn. I attempted to replicate this glitch in a creative world (I flew a fair distance away from spawn, then made a bed, built a nether portal, and switched my game mode. I used /kill three times: when in the overworld, when in the Nether, and when inside a portal going from the Nether to the overworld), but the glitch didn't occur again. I respawned in my bed like normal. The game didn't tell me my home bed was missing or obstructed when the glitch occurred, and I can confirm that it was in the middle of an otherwise empty room.
