Creative function not working after survival world loaded

Started a new beta world. Played around for a bit then tried to change the world to creative using /game mode and I get a crash if u select the / again or try and hit enter (menu) key. After crash reloaded game and changed mode to creative and I enter the world with health and meal bars as well as crafting menu locked unless it's in my inventory.
