Is this a bug? Can't open chests in the Xbox Beta when slabs are above them?

Nearly all of my builds involve having slabs or stairs above my chests to create the idea that there is blocks above the chest. For 5 years on Xbox One this has been fine. Nothing has been wrong with this. Now all of a sudden this isn't possible?

To clarify, stairs and upside down slabs (slabs placed on the upper half of a block) still allow for a chest to be opened. But having a slab directly on top of a chest doesn't. I'm sure this isn't a bug and an actual feature set in place, but I figured I'd create this issue just in case it is actually a bug.
