Gamemode not changing

In the beta, when I change gamemode in the settings, it doesn't appear to change. Say if I make it Creative... if I change to survival through the settings of the world on the menu, the changes don't seem to apply.

I did look and I couldn't find anyone posting this issue on this version, so if there is and I missed it, I'm reallly sorry.
