Purchases made in-app with iOS app store lost after updare

We purchased numerous skins with the previous version of Minecraft PE via the iOS app store. However when Minecraft was updated we were required to create an Xbox account and none of these purchases could be restored. When we attempt to restore the purchases we are told that we do not have enough Minecraft coins.

Could we get a refund on these purchases or a fix?
