Won't launch

When my son clicks on the app it just shows a black screen for a few seconds and then goes back to the home screen. We have uninstalled MCPE and reinstalled several times, closed all apps, deleted apps to free up storage and nothing helped. It was working last week and didn't do any updates since then so no reason it stopped working. I've searched and searched.
