Items disappear when leaving hotbar

This is happening on my Samsung Galaxy S6.
Items are being deleted from my inventory while playing in Survival; this appears to happen sometimes when switching an item actively in my hand out for a new (not yet in the hotbar) item from my inventory. This is new since the recent update; wondering if related to the hotbar scrambling fix?
Will update when I catch more details as to when this seems to happen.
