Sheep dropping wrong colored wool

Recently I have been noticing in both creative and survival mode that when a sheep is killed or sheered it will drop wool that is a different color than that of the actual sheep. Most of the time, the wool is brown or pink which is weird because I thought that those were the two most rare wool colors that occur naturally. It seems to happen to the whit sheep especially.
