Can't eat

I can't eat anything at all. I hold down the right button for more than 20 seconds and nothing happens.

Holding down right button when shooting a bow works fine.

I can see several reports where it is mentioned that it is just the animation that doesn't work, but that does not seem to be the case here.

I have tried uninstalling/installing but it doesn't help.
