/clear Nausea Effect - Shows Portal Travel Screen

When using the clear effect command after the nausea effect, the nether portal overlay appears briefly.
What I expected to happen:
I expected the nausea effect to be cleared instantly.

What actually happened:
Instead, the nether portal overlay appears briefly.
Steps to Reproduce:

• Run the command `/effect @p nausea 20 20`
• Run the commnd `/effect @p clear`
• Observe the nether portal overlay
