Glitchy On-Screen Keyboard

When trying to use chat, or simply use commands, the on-screen keyboard is really glitchy. It flashes rapidly. I found out that if you use the keyboard too many times or for too long, it actually crashes the game. I find this upsetting, as we just got command blocks, but have a hard time using them due to this.
