Hide UI

I've encountered some kind of issue with my Ingame UI for minecraft pocket edition on my Samsung Galaxy S7.

I can only join my realm if I hide my GUI in the main menu settings. Else, if I try to join my realm with it enabled, my game crashes and returns me to my home screen. I've fiddled with FOV/Chunk loading, fancy skies, etc... it all doesn't affect my game, but when I try re-enabling the GUI from the pause menu, it freezes after i click 'resume game', crashes and returns me to my home screen

I've cleared cache/data from the app, reinstalled the app entirely, and it still does this. I tried logging in with my account/character on my friends iPhone 6, but my problem was there just the same
