UI causes game crash

I can only join my realm if I hide my GUI in the main menu settings. Else, if I try to join my realm with it enabled, my game crashes and returns me to my home screen. I've fiddled with FOV/Chunk loading, fancy skies, etc... it all works fine with the game. When I try re-enabling the GUI ingame, it freezes when i click 'resume game' in the pause menu, crashes and returns me to my home screen.

I cleared cache/data from the app, reinstalled the app entirely, and it still does this. I tried logging in with my account/character on my friends iPhone 6, but my problem was there just the same.
