Game keeps randomly crashing and losing latest changes since update and purchase of Christmas 2016 pack

Crash when playing - no pattern, but generally not long after my daughter starts playing. No issues prior to update and purchase of Christmas 2016 mash up. Data not being saved. Tried everything we can think of to fix it, but restarting etc seems to make no difference
