Can't place lava

I had hoped 1.0.0 would fix this bug, but to no avail. In creative, Most of the time, I am unable to place lava, from a bucket, on any block. And when it does actually place, it doesn't place on the block I want it on. Specifically, I'm attempting to place it on glass, in hopes of completing a glass sphere full of lava. I've attached a couple of pictures to show what I'm building.

Also, I've tried this with water buckets as well, and I get the same outcome.
