Help with mining tools

This happens in survival mode

Issue 1: diamond, gold, and iron pickaxes wearing out faster than wooden and stone pickaxes.

Issue 2: Mining ores with anything above a gold pick axe produces no ore block; can only mine ores with an iron pick axe.

Issue 3: in older versions, mining better ores produced more experience. My game produces no experience when mining iron or higher.
