My end gateway was obliterated by a new small end island spawning in it

I was going to my shulker farm and about to go through one of my end gateways, when I saw that the my end gateway was obliterated by a new end island. I have been there often and that island has never appeared before.
I also don’t know exactly what “Affects Version/s” means. I could use some help on that. (:
