minecraft:knockback_resistance cannot be applied to armor

 I am creating a new type of armor that is slightly better than Netherite (called Enderite). I am trying to give the armor pieces +1.5 knockback resistance. I try to add this component to an item and it is highlighted red in my IDE that it is deprecated. I cannot find any other information on adding knockback resistance to an armor piece and I believe that there is a way that I haven't found, but it is not documented. Any information would be greatly appreciated
