Split screen player controls get reset

Some time in the late fall 2024 or early winter, we started to experience an issue where when playing split-screen, the control settings for the second player keep getting reset to default each time the game is loaded.  The game had never reset player controls settings in the past - we have been playing split screen across PS4 and PS5 for quite some time - the game used to retain player settings based on logged in playstation profile.
