Unable to download mods when joining a player

I played with a friend in a Minecraft world with mods downloaded from the mc store, everything was fine until yesterday when I tried to join him but he asked me to redownload the mods then from 16.2/29.6 MB it crashes for 5s. it tells me "Connection lost with host". Can you help me?
