Can't join multiplayer/single or create worlds

Ever since the recent update my kids can't play bedrock at all. They play the IOS version on iPad and the bedrock edition on PC.

Whenever they try to join a friends world it just times out after hanging in the loading screen for 5 minutes, the same thing happens when they try to create a world on both iPad and PC.

I believe the issue is account related because when I try to play on my own account on PC and Android it works fine.
