Freeze / lag when auto-saving

Every time the world starts to auto save, the world starts to freeze, crash and starts to lag immensely. Blocks break but don't drop the item, items disappear. When the world crashes, anything that you were doing after the last autosave but during the current autosave, is reset and all progress is lost.
