PS5 Preview Hardcore Mode Hearts not regenerating to full

When I am playing Hardcore Mode in the new PS5 Preview for Minecraft, the hearts do not regenerate all the way to full, even with full hunger bars. Instead, they stay at half a heart before full. I’m not sure if this is intended or a bug, but I would like to know. Thank you.
