My friend can't use the Tetris skills that are on the weapons.

So I was playing with the new Tetris Add-on and a friend joined my world to play so I give him one of the new weapons so he can try the skills and it's not working, he can only use them in creative mode, so I don't know if is on purpose or is a bug.
