Rockets don't work with Elytras on iPhone 11

My friend who plays Minecraft on his iPhone can equip Elytras and glide with them, but the rockets don't work. We suspect it has to do with the animation he performs while gliding as seen from my computer. Attached is a video showing the strange animation.
