Cant play any worlds

So about 3ish months ago a buddy of mine, who i never thought would play minecraft, was playing and i wanted to join him for his first time playing, Ive always loved minecraft. Although then i discovered that the game wouldnt let me join ANY worlds at all, ive tried literally everything i could think of and look up online and nothings helped. Im still having this issue and havent played in months and my friends are getting into it so i really wanna play haha… any and all help would be greatly appreciated. The message i always get when i try to join a world is “unable to connect to world, check internet connection or try again”
