Skin picker automatically apply the selected skin without pressing "Apply" when left via "My Characters" button
this bug involves in skin picker applying the selected skin without players pressing “Equip” when returned to Dressing Room menu via "My Character" button / icon, but not the back button.
Reason for it being an exploit: This bug can be a handy workaround to the issue I am having with the Super Mario Mash-up Pack on Nintendo Switch if done exactly (because it is too platform restrictive). But it can be used to make players equip Marketplace skins that they haven’t purchased (owned), hence an exploit. Alternatively, higher resolutions of me performing the workaround and the exploit can also be found here
Steps to reproduce:
- With Minecraft open, enter Dressing Room
- (Optional) If on a world, scroll to another character / skin that is different to another and isn’t loaded on the world you were playing
- Click the Classic Skins icon
- Find and select a skin, but don't press the Equip button.
- Click My Characters icon (as pressing Back takes you back without the game applying the chosen skin in menu)
- Leave the Dressing Room
Expected result: "My Characters" button should re-apply the current player-equipped skin, thus the skin player had selected should not be applied / equipped on it's own, much like the Back button in some case.
Actual result: Although you do not equip on Dressing Room if reproduced correctly, that skin got equipped on menu anyways and before entering the world, and if you purchased the skin or the skin was included on the game, it carries over to the world until the game reboot or the workaround is performed, otherwise it falls over to the default skin. However if reproduced in a world (the world is open) without also performing step 2, it does nothing, it does not change the skin in the world you're playing. Otherwise regardless the skin is purchased, included or not, the skin you’ve selected (not equipping) is equipped in the world.
Workaround: Go to Dressing Room (either it's button or pressing "Change Skin" on the pop-up), then switch around (and switch back), make sure the skin you're switching to does not have Platform restriction.
