Terrible sound quality or no sounds

Since I started a new world in 1.20.4 I either have no sounds/sound comes and goes or I have terrible sound quality. I have tried making worlds on newer versions (up to 1.20.6) and the issue persists. Please could someone advise me on what to do. I cannot play this game with no sounds, it is frustrating.
