Is it correct for the Snowy Wolf to repeatedly spawn and commit suicide?

The new Snowy Wolf, added in 1.20.80, spawns in the grove biome. However, it suffocates to death in the powder snow of the grove biome. Is it correct for the Snowy Wolf to repeatedly spawn and commit suicide?
