Cotroller having problems and mouse won't work.

I have a usb playstation controller and the joysticks to walk and look around work and I can map the d-pad to do different things. But the start button, triggers, circle, square, X, and triangle buttons aren't recognised. I have plugged my controller into a laptop and it works with every game I've tried it on. Also, any usb keyboard seems to work great but I can't get a mouse to work.
