Naturally spawning obsidian in superflat

So about November last year I got Minecraft as an early Christmas present. After playing it for a while I made a superflat world to build on. A couple months later of found out that there was obsidian instead of bedrock in a giant patch.

 

 

I also think that the version was 1.20.4.
