Touch Settings for D Pad does not restore legacy D Pad controls

Changing touch settings from Joystick and Tap to D Pad does not restore classic D Pad behavior. What I’m seeing in the settings demo video is what I think should restored with the touch setting change, but the actual touch controls after settings changes  do not conform to demo video. The D Pads controls are barely playable at the moment.
