Dying While Loading into Nether

While I'm loading into the nether, I can hear myself being attacked by monsters, but I can't do anything until I load in. And by then, I'm dead. Is there any way to load into the nether any faster? I have this problem on PC, which is strange because everything else works well. Thanks!
