Chunks not loading for player 2 in splitscreen

In my world I play with my sibling, it has recently began to unload chunks when player 1 leaves them. Player 2 can continue to place and break blocks, but cannot view any of said blocks. To fix this player 2 can leave the world and rejoin, but it only fixes for a short period of time before the chunks unload again.
