Game crashed when entered Nether portal.

So I went into my nether portal and out of no where my game crashed and when I logged back into my world I am at Y level - 40 and no way back to my world and could lose all of my hard work I did for 10 hours!
I am not dying when I am at the Y level - 40 but there is no way of getting out.
