Texture issue on the back of stairs

I was creating a texture pack and I keep getting these weird texture issues on the back of polished granite, diorite and andesite stairs where there is a line in the middle of the block. since there is no way to re-shape or re texture stairs since they are automatically mapped out I'm a bit perplexed.
