Minecraft PE crash when loading a previously saved world after iOS update

iPad 2 running 9.3.5 and Minecraft Pocket Edition v0.16.0

We can create a world and play the world
exit and save the world and it crash's on trying to load the world

around 20GB available space
no difference if wifi or cellular are on or off

removed minecraft PE, reinstalled, and same problem from a clean install.
