Pressing "X" button in item search and typing again keeps the first text

Whenever typing some text in the creative search/survival crafting search, pressing the "X" button near the end of the search bar and trying to type again after clicking the text box, the previous text reappears and makes you type before the previous text, e.g. "(text cursor)typed text".
