I accidentally muted my friend and the game won’t let me unmute him

So basically what happened is one day I muted my friend and after muting him I tried to unmute him, but whatever I do the game just automatically mutes him again. I then went to costumer support and asked about it, after a while of talking they told me to come here. They already got me to look at my privacy and account settings, along with my friend telling me him. From what I saw, the privacy settings aren’t causing the issue. I have also tried to archive Minecraft on my switch and reinstalled it, delete Minecraft and reinstall it, and clear the cache on my switch and nothing has worked.
