Typing non-ASCII characters in chat voids ASCII characters at the beginning

How to reproduce (iOS only):

1. Open chat
2. Type any ASCII symbols, e.g. A, !, &, space
3. Type any non-ASCII symbols, e.g. Ы, ¿
4. Notice the disappearance of the ASCII characters at the beginning.
