Updating maps causes lag spikes lasting up to 10 seconds each

Every time a map updates, a lag spike that lasts upwards of 10 seconds occurs. This issue appears to get worse the larger/ more filled out your map gets

UPDATE: I've since discovered that this issue only seems to happen on Realms
