Minecraft in Steam VR loads and run on the Desktop but sticks on loading in VR

I'm trying to run Minecraft Bedrock in Steam VR. I have made the open xr shortcut, as shown on the Minecraft website (minecraft://mode/?OpenXR=true). I turn on my headset then use the shortcut. Minecraft launches and runs on the desktop but in VR mode. I can operate it with the VR controllers from the desktop. In the VR headset it gets stuck at loading (Minecraft next up) screen.

Intel i7 5820

Invidia RTX 2080

HTC Vive headset

Bedrock version 1.20.12

 

I have updated the VR headset.

I check updates for my video card.
