stuck with the invisibility effect

me and a friend were testing out with some command blocks and we dont know how it happened but that friend is stuck invisible. we have tried disabling the command blocks, drinking potions and milk, leaving and rejoining AND restarting the whole game just to see if it would change anything - which it didn't.
