Extreme lag after the update

Both me and my mom play on Windows 10. Ever since the update, the game will periodically become extremely laggy both in the menus and in the world. We did not have this issue before the hotfix. Nothing seems to fix the issue aside from waiting for a few hours, and even that is unreliable.
