Portal suffocation

Ever since new update v1.20.12, everyone our realm gets suffocation damage when nether portal travel. It happens the world is loading and the screen says “building terrain.” For me, I always die when the screen says “building terrain” I can’t ever get out of the portal without dying (I always suffocate in wall). Please help.
