Cant place coral blocks on walls or roof

I tried placing a coral block On my roof and realized they won't place at all, I'm trying to decorate tm aquarium and I tried placing the coral blocks on the roof and wall but won't place, they only place on the ground up, they won't even place on the side of another coral block
