Keeps dissconnecting from internet when joining someones game

We got a new internet system. The icon on our screen now has a little six over it. Now whenever somebody joins someone else's Minecraft game they continuously get disconnected. For example if I go on and find my son's game, he is a friend, and I joined his game after a couple minutes I get disconnected. I cannot stay connected.
