Light/Shadow Flashing when Mining

When mining, I'm experiencing flashes of shadow in slightly lit areas/fully lit areas. Torches do not minimize the issue and it happens in 3rd person as well. I created this world about 30 minutes prior. It began happening when I entered a dimly lit cave.
