Blocks cant be placed when standing on chest

What i wanted to do:
I wanted to place 4 basalt blocks infront of a 3 high tall chest while being on that chest.

What should happen:
I should be able to place all  4 basalt blocks after one another.

What happend:
After placing the first two on dirt the third one cant be placed directly infront of the chest.
Even tho the hitbock shows that i look at the basaltblock.

EDIT:
I was standing over the edge of the chest and it seems that the player hitbocks collides with the space where i wanted to place the block.

Workaround:
When the player jumped once on the chest the player can now place the third again.
